Nut Gathering

The past week I have been gathering nuts like a crazed squirrel.

I have gathered over 40 five gallon buckets of walnuts and seven buckets of hickory nuts. They are now laying in the driveway getting ran over by our vehicles. In a month or so we will pick them up and start cracking them.

Dega

Last week I traveled to Talladega Alabama with my race team.

Going through tech inspection I realized this was not an average ARCA race, there were a lot of big name teams with big name drivers.

Teams like Michael Waltrip Racing and Chip Ganassi Racing were present. The field included a Formula 1 driver, an Indy 500
winner, Mr. Ashley Judd, plus some guy named Earnhardt.

While I was sitting on pit row waiting for our qualifying run, two time Indy 500 winner and NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya walked out. A friend of mine with another race team asked if she could get her picture taken with him. While getting her picture taken with Juan, a member of my race team mistakenly thought she was getting her picture taken with her boyfriend. She walked up and punched Juan in the arm and said “Glad you could make it”. He had a very surprised look on his face, probably wondering who in the heck is this person.

I was able to spend a some free time watching the NASCAR drivers practice from pit road. I took pictures of all the cars and drivers from the major race teams, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Dale Jarrett, etc.

The best part of practice was when my favorite driver John Andretti pulled up right next to me and got ready for practice. John became my favorite driver one day when I was reading in a media guide that we share the exact same birthday. I met him one day and told him he was my favorite driver because of that reason. He looked at me and said “Your Old !”
