Chicken Man

It took a lot of hard work but I have finally been able to get pictures of my chickens. I had no idear it was so hard to take good chicken pictures. Anyway, above is a picture of our Golden Buffs, Ginger and Mary Ann. These are my favorite chickens and they have a good nature to them.

On the other hand these trouble makers are Black Sex Link chickens. This is a picture of Mary and Laura. Half Pint (Laura) is the ring leader. When I let them out in the yard to eat grass and bugs this one gives me the hardest time about going back in to the chicken coop. We try to let them out everyday. We have to watch them while they are out because of predators. Herding the chickens back to the coop is always an adventure.

Half Pint lost a chunk of her neck to a racoon a few months ago. She is going to be ok, we tapped the racoons and relocated them a few miles away from here. So far the chickens have been a lot of fun. They have been solid layers giving us 4 eggs a day.

Rockhouse Bottom

This past weekend we visited a very isolated and unique place near Lake Cumberland called Rockhouse Bottom.

First we climbed to the top of this 300 million year old stone arch.

This was where an old indian burial ground was located.

Our dog acted very odd while we were up there.

We then hiked down and through the arch to the Cumberland River.

This is how the Cumberland River appeared before it was flooded to make the Lake Cumberland.

Red, White & Blue Pedal Tractor

Above is a picture of Brenda’s grandson enjoying my newly restored red, white and blue pedal tractor. It’s a 1968 Ford 8000 with a custom Dearborn 2 bottom plow on the back.
